ok so i just bought a new safari tuff clutch kit from exedy and when i pull all the stuff out the single mass fly has no gear teeth on it for the starter motor, which is all good if i wanna roll start everytime but i don't!
so any ideas whats happened did they supply the wrong fly or have i gotta get the old teeth off and swap it over if so how the hell???
any help would be great.

Yes you need to take the ring gear (flywheel teeth as you call them) off the old flywheel & fit it to the new flywheel.

you'll need an oxy to do the swap.
best bet would be go to your workshop with it and leave it with them for a day

Yeah youll need to press it off and then heat up the ring gear to get it onto the flywheel. I put the ring gear in the oven and the flywheel in the freezer for about half an hour i think it was. Went on nicely.

ok so i found that all out on exedy website, but it looks to me like the car has had a single mass clutch put ononce before and the ring gear maybe abit larger then the new flywheel will allow i'll get a photo

That flywheel is a genuine flywheel, you'll notice the centre is cast & unmachined where the excedy flywheel is machined from single peice of steel. Either your vehicle never had a dual mass or someone has converted it using a genuine single mass flywheel. What vehicle are we talking about anyway?

92 4runner 2.8 litre diesel turbo its in. so would that flywheel be a genuine part that would probably come from the petrol model?
