my friend has just fitted a denco turbo kit to his 79 series 1hz engine cruiser. his pyro temp are running pretty high and im wanting to know what other peoples temps are running. at 60kph and not under load its at around 500deg c, at 100kph its at around 680 deg c. he took it up nebo range and it got over 800! it isnt intercooled yet any help is appreciated.
ps i told him to intercool straight away

where did he put the thermocouple? denco kits usually have a fitting in the dump pipe, and they specify 500c absolute max egt after at least 2 minutes at full throttle. there is aparently something wrong. be very gentle on the throttle untill you get it sorted out. will be interested to hear the outcome.

It is in deg C isnt it? Thats some mighty high readings there. Has the fuel been played with?

Mine is 2"post turbo on the dump pipe and it maxes out at 550 degrees in fifth gear climbing hills. I'd be worried if mine was getting hotter then that. Sounds like he's running to much fuel.

my egts were a bit high after fiting a denco to my 1hz 105 and i have just had it tuned at aams
now the egts are much lower plus it actually runs sweet i drove in with 96hp and drove out with 120.7hp best 600 bucks ever spent in my opinion

When you buy a pyro gauge kit, the wiring is tuned to length. If hes's cut it between the thermo transducer and the gauge it will read way out.
guarantee this to be the problem as I learned the hard way once when I was an apprentice

temps ranging from 210 to 270 deg c is almost as silly as 680 deg c there is something wrong with the gauge or you are only getting part of the power that should be available. or are you just maintaining 100kph under ideal conditions?
