Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have noticed over the course of the last couple of months that I have a little oil around the intake of the turbo in my TD42.  Over the last couple of weeks it has gone from being a covering of oil to a little drip on the garage floor when parked over night.  Where would the oil be coming from and what do I have to do to stop it?

Blowby from the PCV, almost guarantee it.

If you're worried about it, get a catch can, preferably something designed for diesels than can handle the higher flow.

Does that mean that the PCV valve is getting dated or just normal?

Will get the catch can as I don't like oil leaks of any sort.....

Its not a leak as such, just the oil vapour from the PCV condensing and running down the intake to the lowers point.

Easiest way to check it is to find where the PCV goes into the intake pipe, pullt the pipe off and see if its wet with oil (which it most likely will be).

I wouldn't stress too much - all engines have some amount of blowby.

In the past I just used to remove hoses, clean and refit with new clamps.
This would hold for a year or so until joint loosened up again and oil wicked thru.
