Hi everybody, i've been snooping around this forum for months now and it is very informative and found it very helpful. However, there are still many questions i would like to find answers to.
Its only now that i came to love 4x4 (i've been a lancer type of guy) although my dad and in-laws have a collection of 4WD vehicles (a lot of em') never bothered till now. Cant ask them to cause they are the "user" kind of guys and no technical knowledge.

This particular one was given to me by my in-laws (Pajero Gen1) Cant figure out which model ND maybe?
Its got a 4D56 Turbo Engine 2.5. (unusual though cause its got a sticker that says galloper (from hyundai?)
Image
Its a 5 speed manual with another small lever i dont know how to use...

Now for my questions,
1.Would the paj have the KM145 trans? what ratio's would i have from 1st to 5th gear and transfer case ratios?
2.Secondly what was the original size of tires installed on this paj?
3.How do i get around the small lever, can anyone provide a pattern where 4H,4Lo,n,2w are located?
4.I dont know anything about lockers, but i crawled under and scratched the differential and the sticker says 4.875 which i am guessing is an open diff?
5.Finally, the front axle has an aisin manual locker, would the diff here still be open?

The paj is in its deteriorationg condition and i would like to restore it to its former glory.
Please be patient with questions, and thanks alot for your replies ;)

Not sure with all the tech stuff, I cant read Japanese that good, in fact I cant read Japanese at all.
But Id be looking for a sticker that tells you where to put the "little stick" in regards to Hi and Lo range.
The sticker is usually on the inside of the glovebox lid, or on the top of the drivers sunvisor, or on the drivers door somewhere.
If you have lockers, then there would be a switch to turn them on somewhere in/on the dash.
If there is no lockers, then it could be either open or LSD, being a Jap model, it could be LSD as they have all the shiz in their cars.

I hope I have helped in some way.
Good luck with it.

1) More than likley - Ratios etc can be found in the Mistu Tech Bible at the top of the Mitsu page
2)I believe the original tyre size would of been 205/80-16 or 205/80-15 depeding on the trim level of the car.
3)The Small Lever (Trasfer Lever) should go as follows: 4-Low
4 High
Neutral
2 Hight
Please notice the Dog-Leg in the shift pattern to go from 4 Hi to 4 Low

4)4.875 only represents the Diff ratio, this is the most common ratio in pajeros, again, depending on the trim level of the vehicle, it may have been fitted with a LSD rear diff, an Orange sticker on the inside of the drivers door jam can confrm, or jackng the rear wheels off the ground and spinning one will also indicate an open/LSD diff.
5) AISIN's are Manual Locking Hubs, these lock the front wheels to the drive shaft to engage 4WD, so when U select 4 Hight/4Low with ur transfer lever, it sends drive to the front diff and out to the axles, Locking the hubs IN will attach the wheel to the front axles and transfer drive to them, leaving the hubs UnLocked, the car will still be in 2wd (technically) this can be handy when backing trailers etc when U need the slower speed and More torque, but dont need the 4 wheels driving.

Have a sift through the tech bible, ull find more than enough info there, also consider gettting a "gregories" or similar workshop manual from Ebay or used book shop.
