series 3 or range rover?

Ok the short story is i foolishy sold my 2 door with 35's and maxis, but now i'm ready for the next toy. I was looking at range rover both 2 and 4 door, but a friend has a series 3 land rover with a factory v8 and four speed, now i don't know that much about these except they are tough as nails. And that the rear end is leaf sprung, so maybe swapping in a county rear for better articulation?

Note this will not be a touring car, it will be a toolangi (vic) tracter,

Any help would be awesome!

I love the Range Rovers but i am more off road than on road. But i always looking a bit jealous to the Series 3 and 110.

A Series/Defender is the only real Land Rover and i like the shape but dont like them from inside as all.
Thats a mates 110 http://forum.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtop ... 5#p1519525.
Goes very good and looks awesome.
If i ever start an other off road project again, it will be a mog or a 110.

It needs a bit to get a Series working like a Range Rover but then they are very good. Forget about leaf at all - go 110.

Thanks
Chris

buy a rangie or a county, series three is leaf spring all round, has week 4.7 diffs etc, county is a better choice

Thats a series 3 Stage 1 V8 though. Its got the 3.54 diffs, not the 4.7's and the rear is the big Salisbury diff, not the rover diff.

Thanks alot folks!

Im going to go down the rangie way, preferably 4 door was finding it hard to get parts for my door. So if anyone knows of a good starting point car, please pm me or reply. Not really fussed about the body, more just the mechanicals (manual pref). If the body is rough, well, i always wanted to do a ute!
Thanks again.
