Anybody know if there's anyway you can increase the towing capablity of the wrangler. I'm looking at buying one but I have a boat but I've read the tj can only tow 750 un breaked and the boat might be a tone or more. Please help

I dont believe there is anything you can do in Australia to change the rated towing capacity of any vehicle... it's set by the manufacture.

Believe it or not, the tow ratings of cars change all the time. So don't belive what is in your service manual. Ring Jeep, Ring Hayman Reese.

What is important is on the rating plate on the towbar that makes it legal or not.
Or just add electric brakes to your trailer and a control box in your ride.

There's not too many vehciles that are rated much more than 3/4 tonne unbraked. It would be far easier to put brakes on the trailer, then trying to upgrade and engineer a wrangler.

your biggest limiting factor is the wheelbase length put any decent weight behind a short wheelbase and the trailer will steer you

its the same for Toyota FJ40's zuk's etc

Two skis was scary AB?
I know they are short but I would have thought they were easily capable of towing up to their rated 900.
And I would think with disc brake upgrade they'd be worthy of more...
Are Suzuki Jimnys rated at 1500?!

I've never bothered looking into it cause I'm always towing my wrangler not towing with it!
And I wouldn't have it any other way!!

yeh digsy it was crazy! it was packed with camping gear etc on roof racks and 4 passengers and two big jetskis, the trailer was all over the shop, but could have just been the driver i guess :/

A couple of ACT registered TJs have increased towing limits. Required an engineers certificate and then inspection by the local RTA. I believe the engineer wanted an extra or re-enforced mounting point. These TJs were done to tow camper trailers so not sure how much increase they were after but they got it done.

cheers
