gday guys.

i have a 1kz-te engine that i am doin up. i have found out that the head gasket is leaking. would any one have some advice for me in how to remove the head? was thinking of heading the head creacked for cracking or damage while it was off. does any one know of some one that does work with these engines?

another thing i just got told today that the turbos on the this modle are abit weak and fuck up offen, is this true? and is there any other things that play up with the engine? any problems or things i need to look at?

cheers guy.

Hey Guy , I have owned and worked on quite a few of these engines ,
the main problem with the engine is the cylinder heads develop cracks
mine included - (It was never overheated and driven by the wife most of the time ) My thinking is that the alloy gets hard from all the heating up and cooling down over the years resulting in cracks . If you do find it to be cracked once removed do not get it fixed or welded - purchase a new core unit swap all valve gear over and refit it, be sure to use the same thickness head gasket - I hope its not cracked but i havnt seen just a gasket go on one - good luck Christo
