Some info required please

Is there a LWB (Wagon, Extra-cab, Dual-cab) Diesel 4X4 out there that meets the following requirements:-
1. Inline injector pump (not rotary)
2. Timing gears or chain (not belt)
3. Reliable Auto transmission.
4. Rigid front axle.
5. No electronic engine management systems.

I know GQ Patrol and 60 (61) Series Land Cruisers meet the above, but appear to be next to impossible to find. (especially Cruisers with no roof rust.)

you could try an early 75 series, again rust may be a problem and finding one converted to auto even harder :)

Isn't the 75 series OHC with timing belt? (HZ)

Do I read rightly that you are saying a LWB Diesel GQ is nearly impossible to find?

I think finding an auto is the biggest issue.

The auto is the problem. I searched the net and found only one advert (2 years old!!!) for a 4.2 diesel auto.

Living in the West makes finding one even more unlikely.

Ah, fair call. I didn't think of that. Is getting a manual plus the auto out of a petrol possible?

I notice there is a high roof (but still 12V) one on ebay right now though, and not a bad price. TI too. Worth travelling for? Diff lock, front and rear A/C... hmm it sounds good actually :)

Doesn't the td42 have a rotary pump?

Did isuzu powered rovers come with an auto? Is the Rover 200/300tdi pump inline? (these can be converted to gear driven timing)

Out of curiosity why are you limiting yourself to an inline injector pump?

I'll check on ebay ...cheers.

The inline pump is more forgiving on alternative/bio fuels.
Forget the rover, I would not consider anything out of the UK.

Ebay one is in QLD. Too far for me from WA for a $6,000 car :-(

There are two other ways to go, 1. Buy a petrol Auto & find a Diesel engine, or 2. Buy a Diesel manual and find and Auto box.
Which way is the easiest or the cheapest I'm unsure.

the Isuzu did not come with an auto

yes the 200/300tdi can/could be converted, not sure if its still available, it was made by Zues...beautifuly made but the helix angle on the gears created some porblems.....
