In chassis engine rebuild for 2.4 diesel

Can anyone tell me if an in chassis rebuild rings and rod bearings can be done or do i have to get it out its an 85 extra cab hilux turbo diesel.

sooooo much easier out takes a bit longer but easier. is this a back yar or equiped work shop

Its a back yard job it does have a 2 inch spring lift if that is any help.

if you can get hold of an engine crane pull it out otherwise its not easy on the ground, [you don't really won't the f'in heavy crank fallin on ya head or another part of ya body]. things seem a lot heavier when your lieing on the ground.

yeah can fully understand that but i think the main bearings are ok just want to do the rod but if i do take it out may as well do a full rebuild never done a diesel so its a learning curve but i have time on my side.

Ive done a 2.8 in car and there are no real problems you will encounter. If you are capable of doing it out of the car then it realy is no harder in the car other than you have to lean over the front all the time. I would personaly do it in car.
