G'day,
I have just bought a turbo kit from a 2.4 to fit on my 92 2.8d hilux, it has manifold, ct20 turbo, dump pipe, line and hoses and eerything. My main question is what else will I need to buy/install make this work to its potential?
Cheers, Stubbs

I'm in the same position as you. I have just bought the parts from a 2.4 turbo to install on my 2.8. I also got an injection pump with a boost compensator.
These are the two best step by step instructions I have found:
http://bjblaster.homedns.org/projects/a ... index.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.4wheeling.ca/showthread.php? ... ight=turbo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
From my searching the main thing that can go wrong with this install is the oil return being spliced into the alternator return - it works for most but goes wrong for some. Below is a thread that shows in detail what can go wrong and how to avoid it.

Other than this a pyrometer and boost gauge seems to be a good idea.

Thanks ae86levin, I have read the 4wheelin.ca site and that was pretty good, that other one is awesome too cheers.
Is a boost compensator needed or is it a bit of a finer tuning thing?
Cheers, Stubbs

A boost compemsator is deffiantely not needed as most of the turbo'd 2.8s out there arent running them.
I dont one and it runs fine. Once its on your truck get a dyno and fuel tune. Will greatly increase performance. A larger exhaust will help aswell, I am running 3 inch from the standard dump back

turning the fuel screw up slightly on the injector pump to give it just a bit more fuel will help with the turbo aswell

In effect, boost compensator's limit the fuel when off boost. Without one, the engine will run rich; no problem - just a bit of extra soot off boost.

Thanks all for the help and advice, I am just needing one more part for the air intake side of things and then set to go
Cheers again, Stubbs
