Aluminum Snorkel, why not?

I see a lot of stainless or "plastic" snorkels but hardly any custom aluminum ones, is there a reason? I can get 1/8" thick wall 4" aluminum tube for way cheaper than stainless. I'm pretty sure it'd be plenty strong and easier to paint.

Your thoughts?
Thanks,
David

Seen plenty in alloy. Doesnt even need to be 1/8, can be 1/16th But it is harder to weld, and dents easier and painted is not as bling as polished stainless.

Mine was made with off cuts

Just tidied up the hole afterwars with a bit of half cut rubber hose.

That snorkel cost me nothing at all to make just about 2 hours of time.
