Hey guys,

I've only had carbie cars, a mate has an efi corolla that's wanting to stall when put in drive, we want to raise the idle by a couple hundred rpm. Can we just adjust the throttle cable a little tighter?

Agreed, this is likely the problem and/or dirty plugs.

To answer the question, don't touch the throttle cable. You should be able to find a idle screw on the throttle body somewhere, often on Toyotas they are covered by a plastic cap that you need to lever off with a flat screw driver (there to stop people messing with it....).

Or perhaps I'll just raise the idle speed.

Idle air control motor probably shot (effectively works as a controlled leak across the butterfly), or vacuum leak after the butterfly leaning out the mixture.

Do the basics first by going across all electrical connectors along the inlet manifold, unplugging and replugging them a few times to clean the electrical contacts. A decent tap on the IAC motor with the handle of a screwdriver may free the servo up if is is simply dirty/sticky.

If it worked before then it will work again. Don't try "tinkering" with the set screws on the butterfly until you have excluded everything else.

Try seeing if there are any trouble codes stored in the EFI computer (not all will cause a "check engine light").
