I wondered about this. The auto, is the same style as the Surf Auto, so I suspect it would bolt up with a combination of the 1UZ bellhousing. Having said that, I dont know if it is ECU shifted or not.tozook wrote:has anyone done this and does anyone know if the 1uz motor will bolt straight to the factory prado auto
Yeah the actual housing on my dads is the same as the gearbox housing in my 1uz.thrashlux wrote:I think the best way to do it would be adapt the 1uz auto to the transfer
basically using the adapter and maybe the output shaft from the auto if needed
the reason being is the 1uz auto is electronically controlled by the ecu or ect (depending on which 1uz you are going to use)
it will drive much more nicely if the 1uz has the auto behind it that was intended
putting autos behind engines they were not set up for causes head aches ie 4cl diesel >v8 petrol the shift is going to be set at diferent rpms and loads
if you need help with the wiring i have built many standalone looms for these engines so its just a matter of hooking up a couple of wires
pm me if you need
not all 120 prados had the 4ltr some early ones had the 3.4 v6 its 2005 and after that had 4ltrRAY185 wrote:Whats this replacing in the 120? 2.7? TD? I reckon you'd be crazy to replace the 4L V6 with a 1UZ. The V6 is a sweet motor and really well matched to the vehicle. If anything you'd be better off trading your TD or 4cyl on a V6 one and save lots of $$$$ and headaches.
effort is what gets results my friendbj on roids wrote:Yeah the actual housing on my dads is the same as the gearbox housing in my 1uz.thrashlux wrote:I think the best way to do it would be adapt the 1uz auto to the transfer

Oh ok, I was under the impression that the 3.4 ended with the 95 series in 03 and the 120 came in in the same year but only in the 2.7, 3L TD and the 4L V6. I own an 04 with the 4L V6 btw.tozook wrote: 3.4l v6 im just thinking out loud that the moment
First appeared in 2002, this model included a re-designed front suspension to address reliability concerns of the previous generation, and an all new body designed at Toyota's ED2 design studio in France.Jcas24 wrote:You are correct Ray, the 120 series never had the 3.4l
95series = 5VZE -3.4l
120series= 1GRFE -4.0l
Not sure what market they are referring to wherever you copied that from but I don't think its the Aus market.thrashlux wrote:First appeared in 2002, this model included a re-designed front suspension to address reliability concerns of the previous generation, and an all new body designed at Toyota's ED2 design studio in France.Jcas24 wrote:You are correct Ray, the 120 series never had the 3.4l

In August 2004, the 3RZ-FE was replaced by 2.7 L (2694 cc) 2TR-FE and in July 2005, 5VZ-FE was replaced by 4.0 L (3955 cc) V6 1GR-FE with 5-speed automatic transmission available in late 2005. In North America, this model is known as the Lexus GX 470 with the 4.7 L (4663 cc) V8 2UZ-FE engine.
Looks like another country specs.RAY185 wrote:Not sure what market they are referring to wherever you copied that from but I don't think its the Aus market.thrashlux wrote:First appeared in 2002, this model included a re-designed front suspension to address reliability concerns of the previous generation, and an all new body designed at Toyota's ED2 design studio in France.Jcas24 wrote:You are correct Ray, the 120 series never had the 3.4l

Hey Ray, some early prados (90) series, had a 4 cylinder petrol too.
ok my one is a 2003 it has a 4.0lt98lux wrote:My wifes 2003 has the 4.0lt
Turbo that!tozook wrote:ok my one is a 2003 it has a 4.0lt98lux wrote:My wifes 2003 has the 4.0lt
I also own a 120 with the 4.0L and had the 1uz in my old Lux. I wouldnt bother changing it. IMHO for the amount of work, effort and inherent problems any engine conversion brings it wouldnt be worth it. I also think the 2uz is not as good an engine as the 1uz and the fact that it isnt an alloy block the extra weight and again hassle wouldnt make it worth it either.tozook wrote:ok my one is a 2003 it has a 4.0lt98lux wrote:My wifes 2003 has the 4.0lt
