I wouldnt... go to supercheap and buy one of the black plastic rheem jerry cans for $30, and get a white paint pen and write "DIESEL ONLY" on it :D

yup

give it a clean with some diesel

although, the tiny amount of unleaded that would be left in there isnt gonna harm your diesel. theres more contamination in the tanks at the servo :)

Hmmm what are the consequences if there is a trace of unleaded in it? Even after rinsing it out? Is it big trouble?

nope.

1 little part in 20 litres would be very IN-significant.

even if you put 5 litres of unleaded in with 15litres of diesel the engine would just run rough.(obviously not the best for it)

ive seen a guy put 10 litres on unleaded in a diesel, realised he was a duickhead, the mechanic at the survo told him to just fill the tank with diesel and it will be alright.

I know some truck drivers that put 10L of petrol too every tank full of diesel. They say it helps keep the injectors clean and help kill any algae that can live in diesel tanks. So I dont think a few drops is gunna kill it. :D

back in pommy land they run 10% petrol in with the diesel to stop it solidifying in the winter. cheap octane booster.
cetane in diesil varies hugely around the world Oz is middle of the road. Wooly's diesel is really low
