Vitara Buying advice

Hi
Cool Forum you have here

I am looking to buy a vitara from the early/mid 90s.
My budget is flexable in the sence that I would like to only spend 2 or 3 thousand on it but if I can only buy a lemon for that price I can spend more.
Any thoughts on auction vehicles?

I read the bible but I cant get alot of the links to work. Can you give me an idea of the maximum sort of km I should be looking at as well as any particular years that are better than others?

Even though it is mainly an on road car, I would like the bigger wheels and a bullbar. Are these bits going to set me back so much to buy that I should try and get one with them fitted already?
Also, if I buy a high km one and the engine/gearbox dies, is there a popular and not too hard engine swap I could do with an import motor to get maybe 90-100kw?

Thanks for your help

Just try to find a good well looked after 1.6 or 2.0 EFI you will already have 90+ KLW your after.

If your handy with the tools you will find some cheapys at the auto actions. If your in Sydney I know where you can get a LWB Vitara EFI for $2500 but it needs a headlight, right front guard, bumper and it would be good as new. Just be sure to look them over for rust. Suzuki's being light a lot of people like to take them out on the beach.

I am not a big Vitara man so I am sure a few of the others will pipe up and tell you what else to look for.

I forgot one other question. 2 door vs 4 door which is the same as SWB vs LWB right? I would imagine the SWB is pretty bumpy on the highway?
And Grand Vitara vs Vitara Any pros and cons there?
I will probably be doing semi regular 1 or 2 hour trips, dont want to be shook to pieces and still want to hear the sterio.
What is the weight difference between them?

Anything else to consider?
Cheers
