The problem is the lower the ratio, the smaller the pinion gets thus the weaker it is.
So yeh you could go 5.29's but you sacrifice strength.
I noticed a big difference between 4.3 and 4.88. Especially when talking about 35-37" tyres, you are going to want as much strength as you can get.
Better off getting crawler gears and having a higher ratio.
But that's my opinion.

this is not always true, the 5.29 is just as strong as the 4.1.
Go the 4.88 for sure

Yeah i have Reduction gears in my transfer case already
so 4.88 sounds like the go
the other question is which is the best aftermarket brand Yukon seem like they are the real goods but are most expensive then there is the Nitro and then trail-gear which would be the best choice and i can not believe how much choice you toyota guys have in choice in aftermarket products one thing i can say is your very lucky

Remember that you're running Rover gearboxs. I think 4.11 returns 33's to standard gearing, 4.3 is 35's and 37's may be 4.5 or something. I've seen 49% transfer break absolutely everything between it and the wheel with the exception of a Salisbury diff. Rover, Maxi whatever.

If ya gunna get them from the states. Get Yukon and send them to Longfields and get them treated. Then send them over.

Go for 4.88, or 4.5 if you do street.
4.88s are pretty readily available here. Just buy whole air locked centres and put them into the rover housings. Then get custom axles. 4.88s are readily available.

Is this for a rover, with rover front diff housing?
If so front diff would need to be 80 series hi pinion to clear the tie rod, so make sure you can get the same ratio in hi pinion (last time I looked there weren't many available).

Yeah Simon i have 49% reduction i think thats why i am breaking stuff ,,,anyway the toyo conversion is easy way to provide good reliable strenght yeah trail gear do the high pinnion stuff in 4.88
and east coast gear supply is doing my arb side gear conversion ,so all parts will be available over the counter instead of custom axels

yeah its For a TD5 Disco 2 on D2's the tie rod and steering dampners up front with the drag link behind the diff should have plenty room there

@Discothrasher:
Dont forget that the high range ratio in your Rover is a underdrive.
Toyotas are 1:1 in high range and in low range they are ~1:2 compared to Rover with 1:1.2 in high and 1:3.3 in low. You dont need so low diff ratio gear like a toyota, because your transfer case do the most work. Your diesel high range is maybe even 1:1.4.
