has any one done this conversion? I've got a worked rb20det in a silvia thats making 450hp at wheels. I want to put it into a gq swb patrrol with the rb30 in it. just wanted to no if it would be worth it or whether it would be a good motor for 4wding.

I would imagine it would go pretty good when on boost, but for 4bying it would probably be useless when u want to be crawling around on idle, always stalling it or slipping the sh#t out of the clutch to get over rock ledges and so on.

dont waste ya time with the rb20. IF (i say if) it is making 450rwhp it will be extremely laggy. to get that much power out of a rb20 it will have nothing below 5000rpm.
i would look into a rb25 or rb30 with a mid sized turbo upgrade. Something lowmount and internally wastegated.

i have an rb30 patrol, with n/a fuel injection and a cheap turbo setup, it is pretty good off boost, and pretty impresive on boost, i'm still using na injectors & tune, about 13deg timing, 98ron fuel, front mount cooler, chinese T04e turbo and external 48mm gate, 2.5" exaust, 8psi boost and it will lift the front wheel a bit in 1st gear, for 4wd-youll never get big amounts tourqe with only 2L capcity & 8000rpm.
just turbo your rb30, the vl/r31 world has loads of cheap parts, and know-how. the rb20 is a strong little engine- but the rb30 has proven itself countless times.
