Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey all,

With the epic AUD against the greenback lately I've been thinking of being naughty and spending some savings on some new shockies and maybe even a lockright for my BJ40. When I had a jeep we got everything from Quadratech in the USA, but I don't really know too many other cheap 4x4 parts stores over there.

After a quick google I came up with this place:

What is some reputable stores from the USA that have reasonable freighting costs, and are easy to deal with?

Hey mate, i might be getting some stuff from san fransisco, still trying to work out freight though as its stupidly expensive, but im slowly working through all the companies... Depending what you get from where, i'd be more than willing to share a pallet or the shipping or whatever if i go ahead with it

Ive got some bits I'v been looking at getting freighted over too for a while, but it is a killer. For a 10lb package thats roughly 10" square the best I could find is around the $200 mark.

But if you do figure a way to get multiple items packed and shipped together let me know and I'll consider it.

Get them to send it via USPS - way cheaper. I just bought a pair of Rancho shocks which costs $120 including shipping via USPS door to door. Also just bought 2 pair of running shoes and shipping in their boxes via USPS was $66 USD

What shop are you buying these from Keencdk?

I got mine from a guy on eBay who ships internationally via USPS on eBay, there are heaps of cheap Rancho's on eBay though not always a lot of choice in models. Of course if you ask often they also stock other models.

With the best prices I had seen in Oz being $396/pair for 9000XL's and $280/pair for 5000's it made it way cheaper for me. I would love to support the local guys but I don't see many of those yellow and green notes so I try to stretch them as far as possible.

For shops that will only post to the US, especially if there is free postage, you can set up a Hop Shop Go account. Basically this gives you a US address for shipping, and they receive the goods then repack and send to your address. It is $28.80 for the first 0.5kg then $4.80 for every 0.5kg after that. They will also store and collate multiple items and package them together and ship as one item.

Me and a mate just brought 4 lockrights and the freight was 125 to wollongong but beware if u spend over $1000 u will get stung import tax when it arrives at customs, We learnt that the hard way the tax was around $200ish. It may be worth sending multiple smaller packages then one group pallet if u can avoid taxes

Why are you guys spending bucks on the Lockrights, when the Aussie Locker is much better? I have two in my 80 series and have busted two rear shaft (semi-floaters) with them and they have no damage at all. These are used all over around here and they are hands down the best/toughest lunchbox locker here in the states.

Design is similar, but refined and the alloy is different. You can check IH8MUD.com and Pirate4x4. The general consensus is that Aussie Lockers are the best around. Too many people have expressed their disgust in the weakness of the lock rites. The Aussie Locke is made in Australia, but is only for export. Rumor has it that 4wdSystem in Adelaide are the people that are fabbing this, but I am not sure. Here is a quote from their site.

we hear the opposite.

i got a powertrax lockrite from the states and was very happy with it. as far as i know it is still working in the truck years later.

to start with the postage is steep, but as u add more items it doesnt change to much as long as you dont get something rediculous like body armor. but if you were going lockers the price wouldnt change much from 1 locker to 2 as i bought over some stuff for my LS1 and it cost $198 in postage

got a lockright for the front of my hunjy, $310 shipped to my door

i just got a postage quote of $203 for a pair of axles which sounds steep from the states.
im hoping they will send usps and be much cheaper....

Edit. got email at same time i posted. bugger price is UPS but they wont do USPS due to previous dramas.

Tony, have you tried one of those freight forwarder companies?

As most of these shops offer free postage, you can get it sent to the forwarder, who can forward it to Oz for you
