I am building a buggy Sierra based, It has 60 series diffs 37s and more blahh blahhh....

I am looking for a power plant. I am toying with the idea of using a 2.5L Deisel out of a ford courier.

My question is what all does the engine need to run in the wiring department. Does it have a immobilizer that needs to be wired in from a key coil or anything? Is it like the new euro cars where it needs a signal from the dash cluster to run?

If I use it I will have the complete running car to get parts from. How far stripped down can I get the harness? How much emittion stuff can I rip off? Will it run without it?

ANY info would be great thanks

I have a Courier 2002 2.5 turbo deisel and its pretty much a basic commonrail deisel so I would think it would be reasonably easy.

i have a 2004 courier, from my understanding it is the last year before the common rail came in, mine definately has older style mechanical injection, which is good for what you want, because there is a lot less electronics. Just beware that the wlt engine is prone to heat issues and cracking heads, and the standard cooling system is only just adequate as standard.

i reckon if you transplant it complete with all wiring it shouldn't be too much of a headache, no immobilisor, no computer injection, a few electrical gadgets on the intake and injection side, but so long as you keep the little black control module from inside the kick panel it should run fine.
