Is 10.7:1 compression too high to run on 98 premium out of the pump in my VP Stroker or will it detonate itself to death. I only intend on running a mild sort of cam so i can run it on LPG a fair bit of the time . The engine iis for my 80 series cruiser

Depends on a lot of things, (cam profile, duration, timing, combustion chamber design, piston shape, and of cause ignition timing) you really won't know until you try it. Just back off the ignition timing when you first start driving it and slowly work your way up.

I run 10:1 in my COME stroker that I had in a VK. I did on the odd occasion run 98 in it before I sold it but I had McGee incab fuel injection so I could tinker with the fuel/air mix settings.
drr's answer would be the best way to attack it.

Anybody got any ideas on what sort of HP my engine should or could put out just for a bit of fun. I know the endless variations are hard to predict but with 10.7:1 comp single plane manifould 600 holley,STD headers with 2 1/2 '' exhaust, Hei Dist. with a small to med hyd cam and roller rockers what do you think would be a reallistic HP guestimate ?
