what year is the auto out of ? im doing some thing similar atm and have the toyota wiring diagrams.
if your using a late auto it might be eleccy control with means computers,

but basiclly the CDL switch uses some simple relays (or the proper box from the car) and the switch

nah shes manual mate. ive herd of people getting around it without the need for factory computer and stuff. i wish i just had a part time box out of a 75 series or similar.

You can wire in a 3 way on-off-on switch and wire it straight up. It will work but given the nature of the center diff you'll be there driving, and holding the button trying to get it to lock or unlock. You'll also potentially damage the motor doing it this way.

If you want the simple on/off operation of the 80 series, you'll be best to get the cdl relay and wiring bits from an 80. It works independant of the rest of the transmission, so wether it's manual/auto hydraulic or electronic - doesn't matter.
