Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi team,

I'm trying to wire up some old spotties I've been given complimentary with funky wiring loom. Obviously no instructions are included :(

So I'm at the final step - I just have to hook them up to the high beam wire and fix the toggle switch.

The toggle switch is unmarked and I have NFI which wires go to each prong. Any assistance appreciated..

The three wires are:

• - (Earth)
• High beam
• + (via relay)

The second issue, which of these wires in this harness is the high beam active? It's a 1978 BJ40 landcruiser..

Anyone got any pointers?

I've got a load of wires hanging out my dash

Relay

high beam (+) -> Switch -> Relay Pin 86
Relay Pin 85 (-) -> GND
Relay Pin 87 (+) -> Lights
Lights (-) -> GND
Battery (+) -> Relay Pin 30 must be fused

best to get a test light to test for high beam positive on the back of one of your headlight or under the dash depending where you take the positive from. I am pretty sure the early toyotas are not negatively switched so this method should work.

Remember that most if not all Toyotas are -ve switched for their lights. Most other vehicles are +ve switched.

I'm miffed as to what "Negatively switched" means. Google isn't much help either...

Negative switching. The light is switched on the negative side of the circuit.
+ 12v -----------(light)--------------//light switch//-----------earth

Positive switching. Light is switched on the positive side of the circuit.
+ 12v -----------//light switch//--------------(light)-----------earth

ahahha I just read a three page document trying to get my head around negative switching. It confused me more than I already was.
