hey guys, well im doing my brother a favor and getting his mav back in working order as he doesnt belive in fixing problem as the come up he just keeps drving till the wheels fall off sooo.. i just got it running again for him but its been sitting for a while,
problem 1.. the brake pedal goes flat to the floor yet it has fluid when the pedal is pumped air bubbles come up thru the reservoir, i couldnt find any splits or leaks will this be something in the master cylinder?
problem 2.. it blows BLACK smoke when its started cold, not just a little, ALOT.. lol will this be something to do with the carby leaking fuel when its turned off,
problem 3.. its brakes down when driving like its either got a miss or to much fuel but sometimes its good,
problem 4.. very large steering wheel wobble at about 60 kms i was to scared to get any faster, im asuming a pair of wheel bearings will fix this, i gave the wheel a wobble and feels dodgey on the front right hand wheel,
any ideas??

#1 - Unless the whole system has been bled properly, you might have air pockets throughout the system.
#2 - Running Rich check fuel filter, plugs ,leads, air filter could find your problem there
#3 - As Above
#4 - Could be as simple as unballanced tyres..loose wheel nuts or a distorted brake rotor, tie rod ends, idler arm, pitman arm, could also be worn steering box
hard to say without a detailed idea..anyway hope this helps

Sorry but I dont think your doing him any favors by continually trying to fix his deliberately neglected vehicle. I know he's your brother etc but shouldn't he take more responsibity for it? He'll just keep taking the headache to you. Shouldn't even be on the road with brakes like that.

1. To me it sounds like the master cylinder is bypassing and needs either recoing or replacing with a new one.
2. Carby needs tlc
3. As above
3.

i'm with oz cruisin. sounds right
. i had the wobbles in mine and the only causes for me were if i had loose wheel bearings or flogged panhard bushes

I had a mate who had a cracked panhard mount to the chassis, drove fine till about 50kmh then holy crap it scared the absolute sh!t out of us both as it literally jumped from side to side.
