Just buy one without ABS. It was a safety pack option on the GXL, I don't think it was an option on the GX. Mine has no airbags as well. There was one from Sth Africa that ran OBC a few years back with an 80 front diff using coilovers.

This is something that Iv contimplated every now and again also, would be farely original. Our 02 VZJ95R GXL doesnt have ABS so u can find GXL's without it.
The only problem with using a hilux or cruiser housing is the drivers side drop for the front tailshaft. The prado's are passenger side drop which could mess you around. TG make a custom rock assault housing to suit a tacoma which would suit but they are exxy, The 80 is also considerably wider then the rear axle, if u use a hilux housing with rotor spacers it will match the rear and will make sourcing chromo axles/CV's easier and cheaper.
You could always source the rear gearbox housing off of a surf/4runner R150f and use either a standard chaindrive or adapt for a geardrive. This will give you the possibility of reduction gears and a right hand drop tailshaft while still using the prado R150f gearbox. Plus delete the centre diff lock for the constant 4wd.
Trying to find a front diff ratio to match the rear A01A or A02A is the next challenge, They will be either 3.7 or 4.0 which is a hard/expensive ratio to source in an 8" diff. May be worthwhile buying a yukon gearset in the right ratio and rebuilding ur diff with a locker. I always thought that the prados had an 8" rear but it is larger 8.4" I think which makes replacing it a pain.
