im sure someone else will be more knowledgeable on the subject but here goes
if qld, new springs, 2" body lift, if you wanna get technical replace your springs with longer ones (60 series maybe?)(means moving spring perches) and move your front diff forward a few inches (better clearance of tires on firewall?) (means new front drive shaft?)
if not qld, Spring Over Axle it!, then 2" body lift and maybe still need to push front diff forward an inch or two to clear 35's on firewall.
im sure you can have a look through some of the 40's in the members section, they have done so wacky stuff and alot of them have 35+ tires.

mine runs 33's on stock saggy suspension trim the guards is all i can say, i'm looking at running 55 series rears in the ass (longer), and reset the fronts +1 or +2 inches. and i recon i'd almost clear 35's, but they might/ will chew out tie rods... my 33's do.
reason for 55 series springs, instead of 60's is the bushing is bigger, so you gotta run a hybrid bushings, or replace your spring hangers for newer ones (post 1979) but if your cruiser is newer than 1979, you can/ should run 60 rears no probs.
running 55 series or 60 series rear springs moves your rear axle back a little, downside includes lengthened/ new drive shaft, rear guards need to be trimmed more, and axle rap (maybe), and if you run an LPG tank under the back like i do, your diff may hit it. advantages include more travel, and longer wheelbase.
moving your front axle forward may cause hassles with steering linkages.

spoa + 2 inch body and front diff forward for 35s to clear firewall?
that is way too much over kill.
35s come no where near the firewall at any stage. id say 42s would have a hard enough time.
i had 35s no problems with my standard saggy springs and 2 inch body. id say go 2 inches in the springs and 2 inch body.
only thing was they rubbed on the relay rod when turning. 60 series power steering cures this.
i have recently done a spoa, and with the 2 inch body, i think it is way too high, even for a set of 42s.
im gonna cut the guards flat and extend them straight out ( this gives 3 inches more clearance) and want to lower the suspension a couple of inches.

383, is there a reason you don't just lower your body lift back down, instead of taking it from suspension?
