landcruiser front diff housing interchangable

What model cruiser front diffs are interchangable??
Is a Hdj79/Hzj79 changable with a 92 80 series?

Reason Im asking is because I have the standard passenger side axle leak = bent front housing. I rang futura engineering in rocklea (brisbane) but they dont straighten housings anymore. I just want it straightened and laminated. Anyone know of any other places that can do it? A new housing is out of the question. Buying a second hand 1 is risky as that too could be bent.

Try ringing some truck alignment workshops, they usually straighten out axles. You might want to look into getting it reinforced too. I don't think any other models have the same housing. The 105 is similar, but I'm sure it's a few inches too wide.

7x series housings are narrower.

I believe 105series has the same housing with different hubs giving it a wider track.

have you tried mendhams at rocklea. we have used them to straighten out diff housings before. even to the point where we have had to supply the diff centre so the could redrill the mounting holes.

Thanks guys... Legend - how much does it cost???

80's_delerious - That very interesting. How much wider would it be. It may be an idea to chuck 105 series front and rear complete diffs in and then I can not run neg 44 rims to get the same result.

you can bolt 79 series or 105 series swivel hubs onto an 80 series diff or go the other way the 80 and 105 are heaps wider than the 79
i think the leading arms are located further apart as well (80/105) rails are wider

just hook a drag chain round a tree lol
and hit reverse :D :D :D

get it straightend or buy a bare housing

yep, thats right... your 79 diff housing is different in length and bracket dimensions. buy s psir of 105 callipers and they have larger pistons than 79...better braking for peanuts.

Dow50r, do the 105 front brake calipers bolt onto the 80?

yes, but only if you put 105 disc and hub on....the swivel and spindle of both diffs are identical. the 78/79 run 4x35mm pistons and the 105 run 48 and 42mm pistons, same disc, same calliper body, same pads.
