would rather have the rims painted/powdercoated properly, dont want to just paint em, it wont last, my powdercoated 15x8" rims have handled abuse very well.

is the extra 2mm offset that important...........
just powder coat the rims, or buy black ones to start with in the cruiser 28mm offset

I painted my wheels black and they are holding up okay, and i really didn't put too much effort into the preparation before painting them. There is a few white specs showing when you look at them closely, but i reckon that's mostly due to my slack preparation. You don't notice the white specs unless you look at them real closely anyway, like from about 10cm away. I couldn't justify the stupidly high prices they wanted to buy new black wheels.
I also looked at powdercoating them, which was going to be $25 each i think. But the guy wanted me to get them sandblasted first (they were 2nd hand), and that was going to cost $45 each. So i just painted them.

We had these rims custom made cost $160 each complete, also had a 5mm rod mig welded to the outer edge for extra strength, worth thinking about if you are going to do anything serious.

Powdercoating multiple layers of paint is a bad idea as your likely to get orange peel. Idealy you start with bare metal, apply one coat of zinc seal which is half cured before applying your final coat of paint .

If the powder coaters know their $hit they will gt them beadblasted within the quote they give you.. Powder coating is cheap, I can get massive, awkward desk frames done in any colour for $30, black is the cheapest - $25

if you give the powdercoated rims a quick sand then undercoat with acrylic undercoat the paint will stick and cover with no worries.

If you get them powder coated make sure the silicon seal is replaced with new silicon or you rims will rust away.

booty fab lim gaps is what you want.
couldnt you fit a 2-6mm spacer ring on the inside of the rim ( you know the ones you get from auto barn ) to solve the extra few mm you are after?
