Pyro Gauge

Hey guys,
Looking for a good pyro gauge, doesn't have to be digital either. I have noticed though that some of the digital ones also show boost as well so that might be handy.
I found these on ebay -
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Auto-Meter-EGT-P ... 27b620f38a" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Tell me what you think, they seem cheap.
I have a Beaudesert Exhaust on my car and it has the screw in fitting on the dumb pipe for a pyro so I need one with that fitting.
There used to be a guy on here selling cheap digital ones but I cant his ad anymore.
Thanks for any help on this!

Hi Ryan,
Autometer are very good gauges. Been used in race cars for ages.
They are the gauges to run if you have a diesel. I run both of them on the patrol.
You want the metric EGT gauge (0-900c) and the imperial boost gauge. (0-35psi)

Thanks for the replies!
Yeah I had a look at the Auberins ones. They don't look bad for the price you pay for them. Works out to about $100 once you take into account the probe and cover.
How do you go about getting them to show boost psi as well? I have an 80 series and haven't yet played around with the boost on it. What do I need to buy so I can wind up the boost?
Cheers

something like this will let you adjust your boost

Thanks for that ledgend,
With those Auberin gauges, can one gauge measure both egt and boost psi at the same time? Or do you need 2 gauges to do that?

Pretty sure you'll need 2 . I've got one as a Pyro and havnt had any trouble yet ( touch wood)
you have to change the programing in the gauge it's self to change between pressure and temp display's

Yep correct but the instruction sheet that you can download here:
http://www.auberins.com/images/Manual/A ... ion1-0.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
makes it fairly quick and easy to set the guage display.

The Auber Instruments Pyrometer gauges will do a HUGE number of things, however each requires the gauge in a different mode, which subsequently means only one measurement at a time.
If you have a dig around for the first group buy for these, i posted a link to a document that had instructions for measuring all sorts of things.
EDIT: GUtripper beat me to it.

might just be the strong dollar but for a hundred bucks is that with the cheap $6 probe? or a better quality one.
in the group buy we all went for this one.
http://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_ ... ucts_id=69" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Its 4 times the money but should get a better response.
I have had 1 probe fail in the past few years, the wires seemed to fatigue where the joined the probe - maybe from the lux vibes

I just recently bought that one with green digital guage was under $100 but by the time you add shipping it was $118 aus or $113 us but still a very good price.

Just looking at prices off Auberins for the gauges
Pyro Gauge
Automobile Multimeter for EGT, Boost, Red - $48.50
EGT sensor with metric thread, M8 x1 - $36.00
Box for 1512,and 1812, and 1813. Black color - $15.50
Total - $100 + Postage
Boost Gauge
Automobile Multimeter for EGT, Boost, Red - $48.50
70 PSI (4.8 Bar) Pressure Sensor, 1/8NPT - $62.00
Box for 1512,and 1812, and 1813. Black color - $15.50
Total - $126 + Postage
So for both a Boost and Pyro gauge it works out at around $230 + roughly $20 for postage .. So works out at $250 for them ..
What do you guys reckon? The autometer ones I posted off ebay above were $275 so I'm not real sure what would be the best buy ..

Personally, I'd go for a quality mechanical boost guage over one of the Auber units, the reasons being for the slow refresh rate of the Auber digital unit, and that I find proper guages are easier to look at or reference to.
Don't get me wrong - Auber stuff is awesome, but i'd never swap my boost gauge for a digital readout unit as it'd be too hard to keep a track on.

I'm guessing that the Autometer gauges come with all the probes and sensors needed right?
Who's the cheapest in oz with the autometer stuff??

A mechanical gauge should come with wiring harness for the backlight, ferrule and nut, length of small diameter rated signal line (usually black or transparent, about 2-3mm OD), and a T-peice with another ferrule/nut and barbed in/out fittings to allow you to tap into your boost signal line.
I've had mixed experiences with electronic gauges in the past, so will stick with mechanical units from now on, with the exception of oil pressure.
EDIT: Have a dig on here for gauge prices, there were one or two speed shops doing good deals. Can't remember who they were though.

Running the same in my Navara.
