i am interested in a hilux being advertised on ebay it is a 2.8 diesel but the description says it is putting oil in the radiator and causing it to overheat so i was just after some opionions on what this could be other then a blown head gasket before i worry to much about bidding or buying it
cheers

Cracked head.
It's probably been thrashed and not looked after, personally i'd give it a miss unless it was really cheap (like less than a grand)
2.8 is a strong engine IF looked after. They don't spontaneously overheat. Something was worn and it was ignored.

yea its 2,000 so far just trying to work out a rough cost to do the head i can get the labour side of it for next to nothing as i will do it with a mate of mine who is a mechanic at his workshop the only reason i was thinking about it was it has a fair few bits and pieces on it including a near new turbo set up new exhaust and intercooler

IF it is only the motor and the rest is ok and IF it is a 90s model lux it could be worth it. They can fetch 7K upwards depending on year in good nic.

my guess would be a corrided oil cooler housing, as he said the oil is in the water, not water in the oil. Common from using water in a radiatior and not coolant.
