I have come across this engine its a 1KD-FTE
as far as i can work out its a development of the 1KD-FTV
the power outputs are amazing this is an extract from the old toymods post(cause if i just post a link not many will look)
Toyota Sport Version
Engine type: 1KD-FTV 3.0 inline 4 dohc vn T-25 turbo intercooler D4D commonrail
Engine capacity: 2982

Max torque: 412NM
VKC Motor Thailand Sport Version
Engine type: 1KD-FTE 3.0 inline 4 dohc vn T-25 twin turbo intercooler D4D commonrail
Engine capacity: 2982

there is a lot of stupid talk either side from some people who obviously know nothing from a rice burner forum about diesel engines but if you ignore that then its interesting
what is interesting is the massive power that new variable vane turboed direct injected diesel engines can put out when modified
In America it is becoming all the rage to modify hi tec diesels via remapping soft ware Ie duramax or ford power stroke engines
what this leads me to is here there is no real way to get big power because we are saddled with nonadjustable factory management systems
the chev and ford ecu can be reprogrammed not so toyota
so does anybody know of programmable management systems that could be fitted to the latest generation engines (not a piggy back but complete stand alone) and really unleash some big power
if an aftermarket ecu were available it would get rid of all of the issues for example to fitt a 200 series donk to a manual and then into what ever
at this time i dont know of anyone fitting the twin turbo v8 into anything
the single turbo ute version is a no brainer as its already manual and does not have all the bells and whistles of the 200 series
Itcan be done due to the lack of integration and then possible limp home issues i would not really bother though because the 100 series 1HD-fte has the same power output with out peizo injectors
imagine the power you could get out of a 1vd-ftv if the same state of tune were applied as to the 1KD-fte it would be over 300 kw and probably 1000nm
more info any one??
we need to get this started in this country
