Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hey guys ive just bought a zook and was wondering what does everyone think for tyre size i was looking at 30's or so but any help would be appreciated

Generally, questions like this will receive 5 or 6 smartarse responses, you'll get grumpy, slag off Outers, and, if you don't give up on the board for good, you will actually post the question you should have posted in the first place... eventually.

There is no way you have given us anywhere near enough information to answer your question.

Based on what you've asked, the answer could be stock tyres or 36's.

What model of suzuki do you own?
Where and what do you want to drive it on?
How much are you willing to modify the car?
Do you want to buy new rims, and if so what rims are on the car now?
Do you understand the gearing effects of larger tyres, and the costs involved?
Do you daily drive your car?
Do you want it to be legal, look legal, or don't you care?
What's your budget?

Most importantly, what tyres you run will depend very much on who you are driving with. The right size tyre is all relative to what you're driving and what the people are driving with are running.

Please take this the right way. I've been guilty of the smartarse response to a hopelessly inadequate question before. Hopefully you can provide us with enough information for us to give you some useful advice.

You only get out of a forum what you put in. A good question will get a good answer. Sometimes it can be like pulling teeth to get enough info out the OP to provide useful advice.

i know a lot of people will disagree with me, but for reliability on vehicles, here's what i would perceive the max tyre size on standard CVs and axles (and control arms for coilys):

- Leaf Sierra - 31"
- Coily Sierra - 30"
- SWB Vitara - 30"
- Jimny - 28"

i say that loosely of course - it depends on driving style and gearing work undertaken, but from what i read here and on AZ, seems higher than those sizes you encounter problems or have to spend a bomb to prevent them.

One thing I found to be an interesting factiod, is that the diff pumpkins on a little 'zook' are quite small, and if you run with patrols, cruisers, pajs etc. they have much bigger pumpkins. As I do!

Therefore, if your zook's pumpkins hang down 2-3" less than the big boys, it means that you could afford 4-6" smaller tyres than them for the same diff clearance. So it maybe a thought to see what size the gang are using and reduce tyre diameter by 4" for yourself!

I have 31" tyres, simply put, gives a diff clearance comparible to at least 35s in patrol speak.
My sierra with 31s need reduction transfer case gears. About $1000 bucks from Mark's 4wd adaptors, plus fitting.

Hmmm well I must be a rare bread ... I have 38.5 swompers on mine. Only took a few good knocks with a hammer.

just to add to this what is the biggest size tyre you can have on a sierra according to the tyre placard because there is a few different tyre placards and i would like to get the bigger size one so i hopfully dont get in trouble.....again

i don't know about pootrols however my sierra on 31s has the same, to the millimeter, diff clearance as
my early model hj75 troopie on 33s. just saying.

30" in N.S.W. is the biggest you can leagaly run without any problems. But most cops won't even look twice at a set of 31s as long as they arn't to chunky.
