hey all, iv just bought 2 crates of parts to put the holden v6 in to the paj!!

iv got a 2.6L paj,

basicly to me it looks like it comes with everything, v6 motor with 140000K's, adapter plate, special clutch/flywheel combo, reco manual pajero gearbox with new main bearings (would have payed twice what i payed for the whole kit just for this gearbox as mine has been noisy for aaaages!!) radiator, thermo's, all the wiring from a vp commo, custom sump on v6, a ton of exhaust tubing + lots more..

the only thing i can see it doesnt have is the engine mounts, but i can make them up.

basicly what i want to know is if any one has done this convertion themselves and if so what problems have they run in to??

it seems pretty straight fawd to me (im a mechanic) but just thought id try n get as much info as i could..

cheers in advance!!!

mark!

hey there, i done a conversion to my '89' triton a few months ago, but mines backed with a 4L60E 4 speed auto, conversion is pretty much straight forward, but you will need patience to make it easier. Old engine mounts would have to be cut off chassis, and weld new ones more forward, Marks 4wd adaptors in Melb sell them or Pat Gardner Conversions in NSW. The kit i purchased was engine mounts/trans mounts, input shaft, and adaptor to suit transfer case to auto. You will need to place new engine in place, make sure you have enough clearance while engine is on crane, including making sure gearbox lines up to olriginal place, this may take a while. I also purchased wiring kit to suit my kit, my friend pretty much wired new loom to my original loom in less than 40 min. REMEMBER! Kits arent made to go in easy! You will also need either external fuel pump or get an efi tank with internal pump. I got efi tank and also got new fuel lines as efi runs much more pressure than carby. also something to keep in mind, u MIGHT blow transfer cases from different torque output, i have already gone thru 1 and replaced it with a v6 triton one, so far so good. If i think of any more dramas i had i'll let u know. Also, if u plan on engineering it, your sump would need 10mm clearance from anything and you would need 15mm away from susp components. Hope this helps you out.

ey mate, thanx for all the info!!! great help!!

ill be running straight gas so dont need to worry about any fuel pumps, and im using the factory gearbox, which has been fully reco'd.

do you or any one else know where i can find a vp v6 commo wiring diagrame??

as im running straight gass and factory paj gearbox, it should just be a matter of giving the ecu and or a few other bit power..

any other help would be great!!! cheers guys!!
