As far as QLD goes extended shackles are illegal and an engineer will not aprove them. I beleive NSW is the same.

So.... who knows what vehicles came with longish shackles from factory?
Just wondering if you changed the leafs on a truck for longer ones off another truck which just happened to have longer shackles as well- could you legally fit the longer shackles on the basis it is a complete suspension "transplant".

says on vicroads website that extended shackles are illegal on the rear leaf springs. doesnt say anything about the fronts.
if in doubt ask an engineer. as he is the one signing his insurance away.

You could look at it like this.
extended is just that, something that has been extended.
After market shackels that are MADE longer are not extended as they have been made to that length and have not been extended.
