Outer Limits 4x4 Board

So I picked up a 30" RIGID INDUSTRIES LED light bar today.



first impressions are the unit is extremely well built and sturdy and am more than happy with the thought of it up front of the prime mover I will be installing it on.

The kit comes with a decent wiring loom which looks to be adequate for installation in a standard light vehicle, however in the truck it will need some thought and additions to make it work. The problem is the warrenty conditions are the supplied kit MUST be used or you void the warrenty so its a matter of thinking how to make it work. The other issue is that the loom had pos and neg wires with lugs to the battery only and a propriatry (sp) plug to the lights and has no provision to use a high beam take off to make is ADR legal for Aus, although the switch has spade terminals and you could tap into the loom there or use an additional relay on the supply, earth or pos would both work.

The kit also doesn't come with mounting bolts for the bracket to the mounting point, just the gear to mount the brackets to the bar. The bracket probably is made for an imperial sized bolt of some description, although fits an M7 bolt well enough but due to the prime mover doing 20k + kms a month and vibrating like a biatch I reemed the bracket out to 8mm to run an 8mm bolt. The other point on the bracket is the top section will struggle to fit a hex nut especially an M8 hex so an allen key type head is best. I will be welding the nut to the bolt when mounted as anti theft as once the brackets are mounted the unit is pretty safe as the brackets mount to the unit with a bolt hanging out from the bar as opposed to a bolt going through the braket into the bar.

I hope to get the bar mounted tommorow so I will post pics and what the lights throw etc is like in the real work when its done

I wonder if they do this to get people to buy their "Light Bar Clamp System"

Didn't know they did a clamp system, I saw a small one on ricks heep and the snake Polaris krystan was driving at masters so I didn't really do much research monkey see monkey want

Anyhow I got the unit fitted (pics to come) and I have to say it's the best light I've driven by, brissy and back in the rain and the light output is sensational even in thr wet where hid for eg seems to get lost, probably the part is the amount of light output on the perifial, it litrilly (sp) bathes everything with light best $$$$ I've spent bar the fridge

Sweet. First half decent review I've (and probably most peeps) have read about them.

The most important thing to say about these lights is if you want to have a light that will penatrate 30 kms up the road, then these are the wrong lights for you. If you want massive distances then HID or some big halogen lights will still be the way to go. If however you want huge amounts of lights with very little shaddow and glare in probably a 300 to 400 m diameter then these are the way to go. I dont really care for huge distances so I wont bother putting any other spots on the truck, although I may upgrade the high only to a larger wattage globe, but it would be pointless untill you have long stright roads. brissy to melb on the coast and as far in as the hay plains I wouldnt ask for more light, although the hay plains and the nullabour I ran out of light after probably 1.5 kay in front with the double high and LED although the light is nice and very kind on the old eyes.

The single best part is the light isnt lost in the wet, and rain on the nullabour monday night was almost enjoyable to drive in. I have a couple of pics of low, high, high\LED which I will put on later although its a bit hard to see

from my persepective the last week ive done about 4000kays night with them and very happy, would definatly recomend

I,ve got 2 of them on our RZR's (30") and they are the best lights I have ever driven with.
I going to take the 6 HID's of my Comp Truck and put these on it for sure... they are just great and everyone that see's them is totally blown away.

Also have dualies on the front(spots) and rear(floods) and they are crackers too...

Yeah harb they are definatly like nothing else, 2 months and 45000kms later and I'm still in love with it I had considered putting HID upgrades into the inner high beam only lamps but hardly worth the hassles when one 30" LED unit is more than edequate even on the nullabour

Im currently running narvas 225's (spread and spot) on the front which are fine in a straight line, but other wise arent much chop.
I want to be able to see round corners before im in them and are looking to snakes led range for illumination.
Im stuck though...
Do i go for the top of the line twin flood lamps selling for $400 for two, mounting them on the side of the bullbar facing a 45 from straight?
OR
do i spend an extra $600 dollars and get the very cool looking 1m light bar and mount it on the roof?
What do the owners of these products think?
In the end i want maximum efficiancy over ''cool'...

Hey guys. I live up north and work at a tilt tray company that does a lot of runs out bush on dirt and lots of highway work. We have rigid LED lightbars. Nomally 150-200km for normal each way when not doing town jobs but does 1000kms runs all the time. Its a cab over fuso) we have a 50" on one of them. A 30" on another. We have 10" on each of our pilot vehicles and we now have duellys on almost every truck as work lights and some have 2 sets. (8 tilt trays 3 prime movers) my bosses brother also has a 50" on his 79 series cruiser and we wouldn't choose Any others. Would highly recomend them.

Can't recommend them high enough, I honestly think they are the best lighting option currently on the market

Roo Systems are distributing some other brand LED bar; now called '2nd Generation' bars. They are in this/last months extreme mag. Think the '2nd gen' might be just hype, since the current draw and lumens appear to be very similiar to that of Rigid's fact sheet.

Hanma (chinese mob) are about to release their own bar within the next month. No known info (length, lumen output, quality, dollars) yet though. If they are reasonabley priced vs reasonable output with reasonable quality and warranty, then I'm sure they'll make a killing if another chinese mob doesn't come along first.

But!! they had wanna put some effort into them to go beyond the usual "crap made-in-china junk" .

10W LEDs... impressive

One of the boys at work has a Vision X brand 30" light bar and its is freakin unbelievable. The 10w leds have alot more distance to them. Perfect world i would have a smaller 10w led bar with a 3w led bar each side on the roof, best of both worlds, massive spread with good long distance punch, nice clean spread with no dull spots, and not so blue like HID in the very common 6000k colour temp.

How long is the 120W?

i got some rigid dually d2 spots on the way and some duallys floods for my tj , alos looking at the narva led
bars as the bigger led globes supposedly have better range , anyone tried one yet ?

20" I think, based on the 36w being 150mm (6 inches) wide.

those chinese copies look a bit slinker spec compared to the rigid .

wouldnt put something that nasty looking on my tj .

And at $800 for the 20" Rigid I would hope they are better Quality and look better. But surely they can't cost that much more to manufacture. I would be happt to spend $180 on a cheaper product.

If one eventuates I'd be keen to try out a 120w bar at that price.

Im also interested in 2 120w One spot one spread and 2 36w both spreads.

How many lights sold before the group buy can go ahead. If its still up after pay day the 15th of june count me in for a 20'' how much is postage to 2250.

i just dont see how they could be a quality light for that figure nor would any r & d have gone into
them . in my experience cheap price means cheap junk quality 99.9 percent of the time .

i have been waitin g to buy a 50 inch led bar for ages but really want a comparison between a
rigid led bar that uses smaller led globes in comparison to a narva led bar that uses larger globes .

Re quality: see my above comments.

Hoping to order some in on Monday/Tuesday. 7 to 10 days delivery.
Will evaluate and then throw up some comments.
I'm not expecting them to be flash.
