Maxxis Bighorns and Buckshots seem to be well regarded, fairly cheap too.
Ive never run them but alot seem to be happy with them.
Ive run Claws, MTR Wranglers and BFG MTs, all in a 35x12.5 and all second hand, so all were cheap and all have been good offroad and onroad is ok too.
The Claws are much noiser than the MTRs and BFGs, my fave would be the BFGs, but they were KM1s.

I found most tyre shops try to talk customers out of bighorns but only cause they are cheapish and they arent making as much money on them as if they were selling you some mtz,s or similar. everyone i know with them has liked them and for the price excellent value. i just bought some mickeys and am happy with them even on the road . kl71 as said are good tyres . bf goodrich muddies scarce till january .

These look pretty damn good, however so far I could only find listings up to 32" for them. Surely they will bring out 33s and 35s like they're older brother.

Nankang Mudstars, paid $170 each for 33x12.5's a few years back, and should still get another year from them.

yet another vote for the ol maxxis!

I have BFG muds now and honestly cant see anything better about them. on or off road in fact i would say the maxxis were better in the wet on road.

Same here and have been pretty impressed with them, especially as they are under a daily driven GU

How many Kms are you guys getting out of your Bighorns?

I run BFG KM2s and just got 88,000kms out of the first set.

Just if you've gotta buy two sets of Maxxis to one set of BFs they aren't really that cheap?

Just asking...

If you're really keen for BFGs, just order them direct from the U.S.A. I have 5 KM2s in 33x10.5x15 on their way. Price including freight direct to me way out in the sticks works out almost exactly the same $$$ as buying 4 of the same tyre from a local dealer. Of course this is dependent on the value of the Aussie dollar and where you live. I'd imagine someone in a capital city would have much better freight costs than me. :)

I have a set of 32 bighorns on a HJ60 i only got them for roadworthy but they have turned out to be a great tyre and since they are a lot cheaper than my BFGs I give them a hard time too. I used to think BFGs where the shiz as never had a problem with them over lots of klms but you can buy 6 maxxis for the price of 4 BFG's so doubt i'll bother with BFG's again.

I paid $247 each for my 32 bighorns
and $405 each for my 35 BFG's

Another vote for the bighorns. I went this route as I couldn't justify spending $100 extra a tyre for BFG's. My car is now only a weekend toy though so lifespan of the tyre was not a huge issue, really I was just after bang for buck.

Biggers tires usually cost more money... Or tires to fit on a bigger rim as well...
