Hi,

Just knocked up a relay to my H1 high beams on 80 series.

Having a problem with the relay staying closed. When I turn the headlights off, the low and high beam stay on very dull. Have to pulll out the earth or power from the relay to turn them off.

Whats holding the relay open and what is the solution???

I have had a similar issue on my old holden when i relayed the +ve feed to the dizzy. the Gen warning lamp held the relay open. The solution was to fit a diode to the gen warning lamp wire.

IS a diode a solution here???

thanks.

the negative switching was a silly idea.

the diagram on that web page looks overly complicated.

Do many people just rip it out and turn the lights back into a normal positive switching set up?

I think this is what I will do.

I upgraded my lights with that link and it is not that hard to do.
