Hi to all , looking to install front and rear Detroits next Thurs ....
my questions are
1. did you notice adverse affects in steering once in 4x4 , moving in rutts and rocks?
2. has anyone had drama's with cv's once the Detroits were fitted up ?
thanx in advance

Im running a locrite up front detroit is the same set up but much stronger and comes as a full hemisphere drive should be the same its a little heavier on steering and wants to pull straight but its not that bad.As for cvs if your putting in twin lockers hopefully your not a posser and youll use them cvs will break it just happens learn how to change them should take about 20 minutes tops .No one has yet come out with a unbreakable cv they cost $165 from most wreckers here in Wa

OD,
I run twin detroits in my TJ wranger and love em. When I had auto hubs up front I got a bit of understeer round corners not too bad. Now have freehubs nothing at all. Have fitted a tera2lo tcase gate that discos the front for ultra tight turns in 2lo rear-drive only. Use it rarely..
They just take ht some getting used to. You let the clucth slip a bit more between shifts to avoid the bangs and chirpies and all is sweet.
Tough as nails, no brain maintenance or operation.
Sorry can't speak for cvs but haven't done a uni yet and they get a pretty hard time (1 unis replaced in 7 years !)
