Idle speed adjustment - GQ Patrol on gas

G'day,

The idle speed on gas of my 91' GQ Patrol is currently sitting around the 400 RPM mark and sounds slightly rough. Hoping to bump it up to around the 800 RPM mark if possible.

Is it a matter of just adjusting the inline screw between the gas system and the carby? I am unsure on the brand of gas system and there doesn't seem to be any other adjustment screws

What does it idle at on petty? Mine idles about the same on petrol and gas, 750 ish. Idle is adjusted the same way, via the idle screw on the carbie. The large screw inline between the mixer and the carbie is (from what i'm told) a flow restrictor that only works at wide open throttle. Mine is wound out so it doesn't protrude into the fitting any. Adjustment of it doesn't seem to affect the performance or economy on mine, but one thing that does affect power is the angle of the balance tube fitting that is inside the intake. It must face into the incoming air, when turned around this decreased performance quite alot on mine.

Hope that's of some help

set the speed with it running on petrol first,
there will be a LPG idle mixture screw on the mixer or convertor most likely the convertor in your case by the looks of the picture, dont adjust the main inline flow control is for cruise and full power
