Master brake cylinder

Hay all
Im looking at squeezing some toy 60s under my 86 wt ht and just thought id ask if the master needs upgrading or not? and if so what would be best?

I am at the end of doing this same convert, I have 3 mates that have done it before me.
It will run with the stock sierra one but it never feels good. It will pull up but on a high way its scary.
A Vitara master/booster is the easy way and it works quite well.
A Hilux booster will fit with a little work to the battery tray and some small amount of fab work.
I have read that some people have put in Older Patrol booster and had good outcomes.
If its only ever going to be in the bush and messing around the farm the Sierra one will be ok.
If its ever going to be on road you really need to upgrade for safty reasons.

Its a SOA but its not the norm convert have a look.

It will be hard as hell to get them big bastards SUA. Going SOA yes it will lift it really really high but think of the extra weight your adding. they nearly double the weight of the car and its all at wheel leavel. with going SOA your center of gravity will still be lower then most sierras with a 2" body lift and 2" spring lift.
I would hate to see how little room your would have between your oil sump and diff if you go SUA. Also something to think about using 60 diffs the pumpkin is so much bigger you will need to run 33s just to get the clearance you do with 30s on zook diffs.

A two bolt GQ Patrol master cylinder will bolt up to the sierra booster. Search for Chopzuki's members thread for more info.

Thats what it was.... I knew it had something to do with a patrol.
V840. How does the sierra booster hold up with the patrol master? do you know or should I be asking Chopzuki?

Try the sierra master first. Mine pulls up well and so did my old zook.
If you have problems then change over the master cylinder

Definitely ask Chopzuki....if he even still gets on here. From memory he said the braking was improved out of sight, but he was running 44s on GQ diffs so not exactly the usual setup.
Like the rest of my zook, my braking system is in pieces on my bench.

I looked up his build thread and there is some good tech on there but its all tat old all the pics no longer show up
Found some pictures of his zook in action but nothing under the bonnet.
I have the Vitara set up already in so I will se how it goes if no good I will pop a GQ master on the vitara booster. see how we go.

Are you on 60s? I can't remember.Was your old one on 60s???? Yours is disc all around now isn't it? Do you have a P-valve?

I used the gq two bolt on a standard sierra booster! (hilux diffs)
i had sent the standard brake system to the brake joint and they got them working ok (standard master cyl and booster)
but it had a long travel in the pedal which they couldn't fix because the displacement of a standard zook master cylinder was not enough for the hilux brakes!
a gq master cylinder is a bigger displacement, therefor takes less pedal travel to push the correct amount of fluid for the bigger brakes!
only cost me about $80 bucks and locked up 37's with minimal effort!

V.W.Dave dose the vitara master bolt up or would i have to mod bolt holes and such?
Don't mind the fab but it would be nice if it did

You can run the standard sierra booster and fit a subi forrester master. This is already set for disc rear and has a 1 1/18 bore. sierra only has a 7/8 bore. the only thing you need to do is get the booster pushrod the right length and bend the brakelines into the right positions.
