Outer Limits 4x4 Board

hi all im looking a puting 36s or 37s on my 80 series land cruiser and wondering what is the best lift to make them fit? 2"sus and 2" bodylift or 4"suspention lift? also with the 4" lift how will this affect the fall over protental of my 80? i drive manly in the hi countery?cheers anthony

You will probably be ok with 4", but you'll have to limit up travel big time or everything will get ripped off.

gidday bud i used to have 2 + 2 and 35s would only just scrub now i have 2+3 and its sweet.
id reckon go 2 + 4 u should be right.
and for the other question yes it will be more likely to roll.

i've got a five inch lift and run 38s. i do need to extend the rear bumpstop though cause the rears scrub a fair bit

The main reason people go 2 inch body and 2 inch suspension is to avoid the suspension and driveline hassles of a 4 inch lift. I had an 80 with 4 inch and 33 and I can tell you, you will need longer brakes lines, panhard rods and preferably a part time kit (if it's a full timer) and double cardin front drive shaft for it to be driveable at any speed faster than low range. There is also suspension geometry hassles. As you lift it, the wheel base decreases. I remember thinking that at standing height, the 33's were rather close to the rear of the front wheel arches.

2 inch suspension on the other hand... if your coils are reasonably ok you can get away with coil spacers and some longer (4 inch lift) shocks to get good flex. A very cheap way to do it.

i think mick80 is on the money with the 3 inch lift kit. It's pretty much the sweet spot for off and on road performance on the 80. The body lift is mainly to clear tyres and for some people to get the height. Personally i'd go with cutting out the guards to make the tyres clear. These days I don't care too much about appearances.

Look up manafre australia and look at their kits. If its an auto you can get drop box's aswell.
