Overheating V8 Lux

Hi all, my 84 Lux has an injected 5 litre and is running temps of 220-230 F. I bought it like this and I think it has a commodore radiator with fixed engine fan and no shroud. What in all your opinions will let her run cooler before spending money on thermos and other radiators.....

Bung in a V6 Hilux radiator with an extra core and 38mm inlet and outlet.

My EFI 5.0 runs constant 72 degrees C with engine fan and no shroud.

Does you air intake breathe cool air or is it a pod under the hood, if it's a pod get a snorkel feeding the motor via a cannister filter.

Thanks Struth, mine has a snorkle fed modified commodore air box. I will give the V6 Lux radiator a go. What year model radiator should i look for, and what hoses worked for you? Also, mine has a direct fan, not a clutch fan as room is an issue :?

I have a direct fan as well, VK 6 cyl commodore to be precise.

My hoses are,

Upper "Mackay 38EE9K 7340"
Lower "Mackay 38EE9K 8227"

The lower fits straight on perfectly.

On the upper you need to trim some length from the radiator end but the shape is perfect with no stresses on the hose.

A V6 4 Runner rad will be perfect, but I imagine a V6 Hilux would be the same anyway. Don't know for sure though.

I has a Kingswood rad when I first did my conversion, it's wide for a Hilux bay, also when I measured the surface area of cooling fins the V6 rad is bigger. So the Kingswood rad has never been in the car.

It is important to note though that I had my V6 rad converted to 4 core and the inlets changed to 38mm, which cost me $450.

I haven't run it in standard form.

Haven't been here for yonks, but thanks Dan. Loving the lux mate, I'm going to rebody it with my 96 xtra cab. You've given me the ultimate platform to work on. Your hard work has gone to a good home and is still going hard and well, thanks again.

220 F or 104 C is a bit high I would have thought, but I don't know what temp they usually run at in factory setup.
