4Runner body work help

Post by dad »

Hey guys,
Got a couple of questions about a gen 1 4runner.

Firstly, can anyone tell me how this trim around the window comes off?
The piece that runs along the bottom of the window and up the front edge, in a backwards L .
I have a replacement part for the other side (thats rusty) and it looks like it screws in from inside the car, but from inside there are no screws to be found? :?

Secondly i haven't had much luck in the classifieds ( http://www.outerlimits4x4.com/viewtopic ... 0&t=218296" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) looking for a front bumper cap, but have found a later model surf bumper.
I need a complete bumper on the car for rego, but i have barwork planned :D so it's only a short term thing.
Will a new (~91)surf front bar bolt straight up to an old (85) 4skinner and look ok?

This is what im after anyway:

Thanks
Nic

 haha good call.
Shouldn't be long now, just a couple of fiddly bits and and its on the road and going straight to the big M.
Then probably straight home to weld the diffs.

Do you have an old bullbar?

Don't have to hang around me???? Were you trying to say will not keep up with me???? You lux boys would only slow me down :finger: :finger: :finger: Hey James have you passed the basic wheelen test yet? Nick I think he needs to see Prado your way  Anyone ever seen a fourby mount a tree????

Hey Nick talk to Tim (Jame's mate) he got that complete gen1 with the V8 in it he is scrapping the body it may have a bumper.

Also Dave (black bull) has that bent hilux bull bar at his place you can put on to pass rego. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA what are you worried about getting it past rego anyway????? I told you to look after the rust and I will take care of the rego.

Hey nic nah i sold my old bullbar when i got my tube one, tim bought black bulls old one then sold it when he got his tube one lol. Just knock up a cheap tube one like the roll cage you did or keep a look out on ebay. Tim picked up another one the other day for his old lux for $100 and it was only missing mounts which were easy as to knock up. Looks schmick! And dave this is a toyota section so maybe you should leave the talking to the big boys.... :finger: :finger: :finger:

Not sure about the Surf bumper fitting, but I scored a front bumper off a 2wd LN106 from the wreckers, for $30, and the mounts were pretty much the same as mine, and it fitted up nicely, I have chopped the corners off to make room for the 35s.
Ive had no dramas with rego checks, well with the bumper anyway.

Check out the wrecking yards and see what you can find.
Or borrow one from someone near you to get through rego.
