What was wrong with the 3F and why the 253 and not something better?

the 3f is a great engine but just had no end of troubles with it keeps surging or missing or fuckin somthin replaced carby put elec igintion in it done the valves and still the same shit so decided to get rid of it the reason i went for the 253 is that the old man is a holden man and has about 10 of the fuckers laying around and i treat the old girl pretty hard so got plenty of spares and there cheap to fix when i get a bit of coin up probly go a 350 chev or a 5ltr holden but in the mean time cheap my middle name

Mate i got a 350 in my middy. did it fresh from the start i used dellow bellhousing and marks engine mounts. i also used marks power steering kit etc so everything stays standard. if u do the 253 then decided to go 350 it will be double the price.! Go 350 or injeceted from the start then spend what u save on heads n cam etc... 3f's are sick they last for ever

I have a 350 in mine and the conversion was done by Chev Power, Maybe see what they have? don't know if anyone has good/bad experiences with them nor have i ever been there just thought i could throw in a bit of a hand. Bought it with it already converted so couldn't give you any hints or tricks.. Just make sure the wiring is done well, Wiring in mine is a bit rough.
