Gen 2 SAS

Post by Bitsamissin »

I spoke to Lachlan of Offroad Industries (ORI) today and they are doing a SAS on a Gen 2 swb 3.0 V6.
They are using a re-tubed Hilux front diff 5 link front with airbags rather than coils. The rear will be raised to match the front via taller coils the trailing arm mounts will be cut and rewelded so the diff can be rotated to correct pinion angle. The front propshaft will be a custom double cardan set up.
He says it will sit 5" taller than standard.
It's almost finished and he said he will post some pics when completed

Is it to be a one off? Or is this just the beginning of bigger things?

It's a one off but ORI seem to be doing a lot of Paj stuff at the moment.
I think once a reasonably priced kit is sorted and a few have been done then others may follow suit.
The thing with the Tojo IFS to live axle conversions is that they are very straightfoward as it's all Toyo gear.
The price range we are talking about is around $4K.

Grave Dig.

I saw this rig at Tuff Truck on the weekend  . I am now uber keen to get a solid axle under the front of mine. It looked awesome

Also saw the ORI SWB at the Tuff Truck Challenge and yes it did look rather impressive - must say I do prefer the setup in franks rig though. I've been wheel'n with Frank and from what I have seen the solid front setup performs very well. Spoke to Lachlan at the event and may line up a drive with him in the near future (looks like I will be moving North to Shitney  ) so will delay final judgement till then.

I believe you were camped two down from us Hekta at the challenge - I dropped by but you were down at one of the courses at the time.
