Well the 95 DX Coilcab fell through [ I'm to slow ], but it may be a good thing because i've now got my eye on a 2000 ST 4.2 turbo diesel ute.
It's done 240,000 KM's though, [ to many? ] & the yard only wants $25,000, alot cheaper than any other GU i've seen.
It looks very neat & the dealer gives ' KMs & end of financial year' as only reasons for it's price [ there's no signs of bush or beach work on this truck].
Now the same question as before : what should I look for & look out for on this truck? also, is the turbo diesel much better than normally aspirated?
any advise would be appreciated

If it is ex mines check the chassis rails where you can get you fingers in and feel around for a bunch of crap or any obvious signs of corrosion.

Most ex mines trucks are pretty obvious, ask to look at the service book to see who owned it and where it was serviced any town close to a known mine is a give away.

I still wouldn't write off the thing being FUBAR though.

If you want to use it for offroad use mainly ie mod the piss outta it and the chassis is still good I would not actually discount a good buy.

The motor and drive train are good for heaps of km's. People have been getting over 500 000km out of TD42 engines, many have gotton alot more than this.

Fuel economy some where around 12lt/100km (for a std truck)

Thanks Turps,
So if body & chassis are in good order [ not ex miner ] it should be a good buy?
Anything else?
