1fz fe, run on issue, dual fual gas/petrol fitted

Post by Bundy79 »

Heya guys,

I had a dual gas/petrol 1fz-fe, it has recently started to run on, but only on petrol, i has had it checked out twice so far and no joy from either party, timing is all good, they reckon it is something to do with the gas kit. I have stopped running it on gas for over a month and it still does it. Not sure where to go now. Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

mine did the same not too long ago. on mine it ended up being the acc wire that told the gas system to feed gas via a relay in the engine bay. depending on how your cars setup most likely scenarios are that acc wire has come off (it is compulsory that gas fitted vehicles run one so the gas cant be run while the ignitions off), the idle speed sensor wire which should be going somewhere near the throttle body or the lambda controllers stuffed (not all cars run these, mine has one but doesn't use it).

Dad tested mine by manually switching to gas. we did this by disconnecting my switch box and jumping with a paperclip the return feed with petrol wire first to make sure it would run then with the gas wire.

Please keep in mind it is illegal to drive your car around this way as that switch box acts as a safety cutout in case of an accident. and when attempting to start car on gas turn key all the way dont sit around with the acc on as anytime ignition / acc is on its feeding gas.
