Hi guys, I have a 105 series cruiser with a 1HDFTE engine and manual gearbox out of a 06 IFS 100 series, there is a grinding chattering noise that happens when i back off slightly seems to happen when there is no load on the drive line. I origionally thought the noise was coming from the front diff, so i replaced the center and a CV that had a tiny bit of movement in it, while it was out i drove it around with the center lock in and no front center, axles and drive shaft in it and it didnt seem to make the noise any more, but as soon as it was back together with the new stuff the noise was there again.

Any Ideas would be much appreciated.

how high is ur cruiser?

sounds like the front tailshaft to me.. anything over 4" and they sometimes start to chatter when you are coasting. the unis may feel fine but if u drove with no front shaft and the CDL on and it was fine then that proves its the front shaft..
