Hi all has any one changed a water pump on a 1HZ ???
By the looks of it the timing case has to be removed and to do this the cam pully has to come off also.
this looks like a lot of work for a water pump and will need some special tool to remove the cam pully.
Any help would be great
Cheers

I have done mine. Yes it is a bigger job than normal for a water pump, you do need to remove the upper half of the timing belt cover and you do need to remove the camshaft pulley. I didn't need any special tools or a puller I got by quite well with standard hand tools. I have made up a little gismo to remove the timing belt tensioner spring. Even if you have to buy one it's a good investment because you should replace the timing belt as specified. The cost of these small tools is usually less than the cost of paying someone to do the job for you. If you do these jobs yourself you learn about your vehicle, then getting stuck on the side of the road somewhere becomes less of a drama when you have the knowledge and the tools. The important issue is valve timing, be very carefull. LOL Ed.

Thanks Ed
This is the info that I was after. I do most of the maintenance on the old girl but just wanted to know I was on the right track.
