GQ/Mav Fuel Gauge Weirdness

Just picked up my Mav and noticed some weirdness with the fuel gauge. From a full tank i.e. can't pump any more fuel in, the fuel gauge goes to full. After 100klms it drops to 1/4. I've now done 150klms and it's still on 1/4. Any ideas?

I just had mine fixed - it was actually the wiring from the tank / sender. Just had a new wire put in.

Is there a way to test the fuel sender?

The arm that holds the float to the sender assembly, can sometimes come disconnected. There are 2 small plastic hooks that hold the arm in contact with the sender assembly. As these plastic hooks age and wear, and also from being in constant contact with the fuel, they can allow the arm to move out of contact with the small PC BOARD which is the sender. Its possible, after washing the fuel off the assembly, to gently warm up the plastic and bend them closer together to keep the arm in contact.
You will need to remove the sender through the access hole in the rear floor to check though.

That would work... Recently had mine play up too.
I just saved my pocket money for as long as I could, then went and bought a new one from Nissan for $40.00
Don't do it on the cheap... It'll only f#%k out again later...
GO BUY A NEW ONE.

Sorry for hijacking.
Do they use the original sender on an aftermarket subtank as used on a dual fuel set up???
Because my petrol guage reads all over the place as well!
