Outer Limits 4x4 Board

who here has put coils under there 45 series and how have you done it??
i picked up a 45 shorty that had range rover suspention connected to the cruiser diffs under it (i didnt get diffs or running gear with it). im thinking of using the range rover suspention but with 60 series diffs.
any other ideas/photos would be of some help.

what about 80 series?
they already have coil hats and control arm brackets

the easiest by far is to source a complete front and or back of an 80 series and then transfer all the suspension over. just make sure you keep all the arms etc in the same place, angle, separation etc.

don't mean to hijack,

but what about bundera?? ive just found a bundy for sale at a fair price ($1000) is this any better or worse??

Sorry to be a stickler but is it a BJ shorty or a 45? As far as I know, there was no bj45 (four cyl diesel LWB) brought into this country?



If it's a LWB, consider buying a rolling chassis from an 80 and chucking the body on top of that. I'm about halfway through doing this with my 45 ute at the moment. There's a few fiddly bits like sorting the radiator mounting and moving the gearbox crossmember forward and farking with the steering but it's really not too hard at all and you get a newer (and IMO stronger) chassis, a decent 112"wb, more track width, better brakes, better suspension, yet still get to keep the coolness of the 45. Win/win in my book.


If it's a SWB then you may have to go all custom. I'm pretty sure Scotto did this with his, here's his build thread on another forum:

That's with 80s diffs by the way.

I reckon the Rangie suspension could work very well if you stretched your wb out to 100" or so. They have one of the more flexible radius arm setups in the front and the A-arm in the rear is very decent too. But whichever way you go, you're going to have to be handy with the welder and grinder.
